Police seeking witnesses in hit and run incident

Prince George RCMP is seeking witnesses to a hit and run incident that occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2022.

Frontline police officers received a report shortly before 10:00 p.m. about a 13-year-old youth that was struck by a semi-trailer truck near the intersection of Highway 97 South and 22 Avenue. The suspect vehicle is a burgundy Bandstra transport truck that was heading southbound on Highway 97 South at the time of the incident.

The driver returned to the area a short time later and was arrested by police for failing to remain at the scene of an accident. The youth was transported to hospital by B.C. Ambulance Services with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators are asking that any witnesses to the incident or anyone with dash cam footage that was in the area at the time, please call the non-emergency number at 250-561-3300 to speak with police, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

The driver was released without process pending the results of the full investigation. He is cooperating with police.
