File # 2022-25864

A Langley man was taken to Kamloops RCMP Detachment cells on Tuesday afternoon, following a report of an aggressive man on a bus.

On July 26, 2022, around 1:15 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the 1200-block of Summit Drive where a man was allegedly threatening someone and damaging a city bus.

Officers arrived to find a bystander holding the suspect down. The suspect was arrested and taken to cells.

Throughout his interaction with police, the suspect made threats directed at all police in general and continuously shouted racist comments at one of the responding officers, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

The man was held in custody to sober up and calm down, then released with a court date. Charge recommendations are anticipated as part of the assessment process.

Anyone who witnessed, has information, or video footage related to this investigation is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-25864.
