Woman arrested after assault in local retail store

On April 2, 2023, the Fort St John RCMP received a report from an employee at a local retail store after they had been assaulted by a woman. The employee knew the woman and requested the woman leave the store due to her chronic shoplifting in the store. The employee followed the woman through the store and was then assaulted by the woman.

The woman was on court-imposed conditions to not to attend the store at the time of the assault due to previous incidents.

On April 3, 2023, Fort St John frontline police officers located Erin McKinnon and arrested her for Uttering Threats, Assault and Breach of Release Order.

McKinnon was held for court where she was remanded in custody until April 5, 2023, for her next appearance.
