Stolen vehicle recovered following crash

On Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 4:46 am, Fort St John RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle that had just occurred.

The vehicle had been left running and unlocked while the owner was at a local convenience store.
The owner had a tracking device for the vehicle and was able to communicate to police where the vehicle was.

At approximately 5:03 am, police see the stolen truck after an apparent collision with another vehicle on the West Bypass near Solar Trail. The stolen truck fled the scene and moments later, police located the truck at the intersection of Alaska Road North and the West Bypass, upside down in the ditch.

The suspect was extracted from the vehicle with the help of the Fort St John Fire Department. The man was taken to hospital for injuries reported to be minor.

The investigation is ongoing and the man could face several charges.
